As an update to a previous article about the fire at Partington Social Club on Warburton Lane which was now known to have been started deliberately, police have now released CCTV images of the man suspected of starting the fire and further images of the damage that was caused inside the building.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 1.50am on January 9th and fire fighters managed to deal with the inferno, and to tell nearby residents to keep their windows shut due to the amount of smoke that was billowing out of the club.
A joint investigation is underway with GMP and the fire service to find out who started this fire.
No injuries were reported.
Detective Constable Clare Robinson, of GMP’s Trafford Borough said: “This was a completely reckless attack on a popular social club that could have resulted in devastating consequences.
“You can see the extent of the damage from the images we have released and I would implore anyone with any information to get in touch so that we can find the person for this mindless crime.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 104 of Tuesday 9th January or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
