Ex Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was rushed to hospital early this morning from his Cheshire home.
Ferguson aged 76 was then treated for a brain haemorrhage and is currently in intensive care.
Reports suggest the operation was a success and needed time to fully recover, his son Darren had to bring in a replacement as he is a manager at Doncaster so he could be with his father in a Manchester hospital thought to be Salford Royal.
Ferguson was the best Manager Manchester United had ever have and have since struggled to find a replacement that can offer a similar pattern of success, although Jose Mourinho has steadied the ship.
Manchester United said: “Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery today for a brain haemorrhage the procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to aid his recovery.
“His family request privacy in this matter.”
