Brazen thief steals bank card and tries to use it at a shop in Timperley

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after an attempt was made to use a stolen bank card to pay for items in Timperley.

At 7.45pm on Sunday 21 October 2018 the occupant of a property on Threshfield Drive, Timperley was watching TV when he heard the back door of the address close.

When he went to investigate, the man realised that his wallet had been stolen from a worktop next to the door.

At around 8.30pm later the same evening, there was an unsuccessful attempt to use one of the victim’s bank cards to pay for cigarettes at the One Stop shop on Briarfield Road, Timperley.

Police have now released the image of a man they think has important information on the incident.

Constable Jon Wyatt of GMP’s Trafford Division said: “This was a brazen burglary when the victim was inside their property in an adjacent room.

“If you recognise the man pictured, or have any information that may assist our enquiries, please contact police immediately.”

Information can be left with police on 0161 856 7530 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
