The Environment Agency has put in a proposal to demolish existing buildings and create a new base on Carrington Lane in Sale.
A new base is needed so that workers from the Environment Agency can get to floods faster in case of an emergency situation.
Existing buildings will be demolished to make way for 2 secure storage units, a modular office and a building for sand storage.
As the location is surrounded by houses and a grade II listed building nothing will be affected by the work.
The proposal is necessery as the chances of widespread flooding is a reality due to climate change.
It is expected to be passed by planners at Trafford Council.
