Police investigate an assault on a man in Manchester City Centre

Officers investigating an assault in Manchester city centre have released CCTV.

At around 2.50am on Saturday 2 March 2019, a man in his 20s was assaulted by a group of people in the street following an argument.

One of the group used a bottle to strike the victim on the back of his head

The attack occurred near to the CIS building on Balloon Street.

The victim suffered injuries to the front and back of his head and required hospital treatment.

Officers would like to speak to the individuals in the CCTV in connection with the incident.

DC Kate Grundy, from GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “The victim was assaulted as he walked home, and as he was on the phone to the police he was assaulted for a second time and struck to the back of his head with a bottle.

“Fortunately the injuries weren’t serious but it had the potential to be much worse.

“We are keen for any information on this incident, so that we can trace the people responsible.”
