Come and meet the friendly people from Trafford Trading Standards at an illegal tobacco awareness event to be held in Sale.
The event will be this Friday 7th June on School Road in Sale between 9.30am and 3pm.
You can also meet the tobacco detection dogs.
The event is to show you the dangers of buying illegal tobacco, although it may not seem like a big deal to you buying these smelly cheap cigs but it is bad news for the community more so for children.
Because they are so cheap they are often flogged to children, Trafford Trading Standards claim that 55% of kids smoke illegal tobacco and 73% hav been offered it.
Buying from local sellers is putting money in the hands of criminals People supplying it locally are often involved in drugs or loan sharking. Buying it means supporting crime and can put children into contact with criminals.
Cheap tobacco encourages smokers to keep smoking and to smoke more, and can break down their willpower to quit.
News4Trafford would ask people not to be smoking at all since everyone (including those that go into denial) knows how dangerous it is not only for them but for those around them.
