Abandoned rail line from Partington will be a cycle path

The abandoned rail line from Partington to Broadheath will be a cycle path after we contacted Sustrans for an update.

We told you in recent times that this line would be reopened with steam trains going on it, this though fell through at a very late stage.

Trafford Council and Salford Council have indicated to both Sustrans and the Mayor’s Cycling Team headed by Chris Boardman who have established the Bee Network master plan.

Cyclists everywhere will be over the moon about this official news, it would mean cycling to and from Partington and Carrington and from other areas around Partington would be safe.

With Sinderland Lane set to see a huge increase in cars and vans cyling will get even more dangerous.

We are told that some issues may get in the way, however these will no doubt be gettting the line cleared as it is in a bad state, volunteers will be needed so we will have details of how to help nearer the time when work will start.

News4Trafford will help as much as we can with this effort.
