Altrincham was to be the last stage of The Tour of Britain cycle race and with warm weather the Altrincham crowds gave the event a big thumbs up.
Hundreds of people lined the outer barriers as the event started, with the crowds banging on the boards, everyone was having a great time.
Families turned out, very small children even the dog walkers had a look in! we looked for the protesters and found only a couple of people handing out info-graphics on sheets of A4 paper and have since seen some small banners along the route, the protests were about Fracking.
With so many people turning out to see this race, we are hopeful that it could return next year.
With the level of interest, it sends the message to Trafford Council that people do want to cycle and do need the infrastructure in which to cycle in safety.
The winner of stage 8 from Altrincham to Manchester and the champion of The Tour of Britain was Matheiu Van De Poel he won overall in a time of 29.47.41 with second place Matteo Trentin 17 seconds behind.
