Police respond following calls that a Nisa store in Sale was being ram raided

Police responded fast after calls that a Nisa store in Sale was being ram raided during the early hours.

Shortly after 1am this morning (Saturday 14 September 2019), police were called to reports of a burglary at Nisa Local on Manor Avenue, Sale.

Officers attended and briefly pursued the offenders who were attempting to flee in a Ford Transit van with a stolen cash machine.

The van collided with three cars on Taunton Road before the offenders fled on foot.

No-one was injured.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning.

A significant amount of damage was caused to the premises.

The cash machine was recovered by officers and enquiries are ongoing.
