Two minor tremors have hit Prestwich in Manchester on 12 March 2020 just before 11.30pm.
The first was at 11.25pm and measured 1.3 on the Richter scale a second or so later a bigger tremor was detected and measured 1.6 and the epicentre for both was around Heaton Park.
Both tremors would have been felt by local people as the depth was fairly shallow with the first being 13KM and the second 12KM although not strong enough to do any damage.
The UK has many fault lines, two of which are under Partington! and from time to time the ground will shake a little, as the UK has no major fault lines we have nothing much to worry about, however we have seen a 6+ magnitude earthquake in the past.
