Housebuilder Miller Homes reveals new attitudes of home buyers in the North West

Leading housebuilder, Miller Homes, has revealed internal insights which could see a change in the way that house hunters search for and purchase their new properties in the future.

In particular, with reference to the Novus development which is currently being built in the sought-after area of Stretford, a stone’s throw away from Manchester city centre.

it has been revealed in a recent poll by Miller Homes, that of 750 potential property buyers, more than two thirds are still hoping to move this year. 69 per cent said they hope to make the move to a new home by the end of the year.  The same poll also found that 39 per cent were hoping to move houses, before the end of the summer.

Insights from Miller Homes has also revealed the changing buying patterns of house hunters in the area. From their Novus development, the company can disclose that more people are buying off-plan than ever before.

Due to the temporary closing down of sales centres across the region, many who were still hoping to move this year had to find other ways to continue their property search whilst at home.

Adapting to this, Miller Homes produced a number of options for buyers including virtual tours and the option to reserve online in an instant.

With some still wary about heading outside, and others preferring this new way of searching from the comfort of their own home, Miller Homes predicts this new way of buying to be a trend that carries through in the future, and one they will continue to adapt to.

Supporting the poll with internal data, Miller Homes has also found that interest in developments is currently high. It seems that many are recognising that now is the best time to buy.

With a recently announced Stamp Duty Holiday and the Help To Buy scheme, thousands of pounds can be saved. What’s more, with the option to get started online from the comfort of your own home, many have adopted a sense of urgency and a keenness to begin their buying journey.

There has also been an uplift in interest of apartments and houses within close proximity to parks and green spaces.

Since lockdown, another trend noticed by housebuilder Miller Homes is the desirability for office space in an apartment or home., The number of people working from home has recently risen and it would seem that this is being considered as a long-term option for many.

Since the easing of restrictions, and the reopening of sales centres, Miller Homes has noted a growing number of house buyers wanting home office rooms in their properties.

Leanne Feeley, Regional Sales Manager for Miller Homes in the North West, said: “After reopening our sales centres, we’ve certainly noticed some interesting trends. We were also pleased to see that so many house hunters were keen to move with urgency, even before the end of the summer. We are adapting our offering to suit these new trends, working on virtual tours and online reservations being open for all developments.”

The Novus sales centre is located on Chester Road, Stretford, M32 0YA and is now open every day 10:30am-5:30pm. It is asked that all appointments are pre-booked, to allow for social distancing measures.
