When the Edinburgh Fringe Festival was cancelled it was a huge blow to performers across the country.
For family friendly improv comedy show ComedySportz this year would have been the team’s biggest Fringe yet. Luckily, the show will go online with as part of Laughing Horse Comedy’s digital Free Fringe Festival!
“It means we’ll have to deep fry our own mars bars but at least we can keep people laughing,” says performer Sean Mason. ComedySportz sees two teams compete for laughs with improvised gags and games inspired by audience suggestions.
The team perform regular shows at the Waterside in Sale but have been performing online since March.
The team will be doing four shows a week to keep families laughing throughout August. They will be doing daytime shows – Mondays and Fridays at 12.30pm BST – and evening shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7pm BST from 7th to 30th August.
Shows are family friendly and free to watch but audiences can donate to support the comedians, many of whom have been out of work since the Lockdown began.
“We’re delighted to be partnering up with the Free Festival again and there are some brilliant shows to keep audiences laughing throughout the month,” says Sean. “Online has been a really fun way to keep the shows going and even though we can’t see our audience shows have been really interactive.”
