Trafford Council have commissioned CBRE a property firm to look at options for the Grafton Centre in Altrincham.
The council bought the shopping centre in 2018 contacted the property firm to look at the possibility of bringing the centre back to life again.
Most people will have used the Grafton Centre at one time or another, it was a nice place to have a coffee when it was cold or just as a short cut to either Stamford New Road or the shopping centre.
Altrincham shopping centre is starting to see empty shops again, opening up the Grafton Centre again will prove very popular.
Cllr James Wright, Trafford Council’s Executive member for Housing and Regeneration, said:
“The Council is looking at best options for the future of the Grafton Centre and is working closely with CBRE to ensure the best results. We have ended the procurement process we had started, as it had commenced in a different economic climate to the one we find ourselves in today. Thank you to all the companies who took part in the process.
“Trafford Council will now focus solely on the future of the Centre as we go forward. The Council has been at the forefront of the regeneration of Altrincham town centre in recent years including the successful Market Quarter, public realm works and Altrincham Business Improvement District, and we are very proud of the work that has been carried out.”
