Police appeal for witnesses following the death of a woman in Hulme

At around midnight on Wednesday 26th May, police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a woman found on a path between Moss Lane East and Caston Close, Hulme.

Officers attended and sadly found the body of a woman, who has since been identified as 32-year-old Keeley McKenzie, from Moss Side.

The death is not currently being treated as suspicious but detectives are keen to speak to any passers-by who may have seen Keeley on the path at this time and have released a CCTV image of a possible witness.

Detective Inspector Daniel Hadfield, of Longsight CID, said: “Following the review of CCTV footage, we are keen to speak with a woman described as white, with long hair, wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag on her shoulder.

“We believe that this person may have seen Keeley while walking past the path at around 10.39pm and so may be able to help us with our enquiries.

“We would like to take this opportunity to specify that the woman pictured in the CCTV images is solely being treated as a witness.

“As part of our investigation we discovered that Keeley’s mobile phone was missing and so we are trying to establish where the phone could have gone and if it could have been taken by someone.

“Again, we know that the woman in the CCTV images only walked past the area where Keeley was found, so we are purely appealing for her help in assisting us with our investigation.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Longsight CID, on 0161 856 4409 quoting log 101 of the 27 May 2021.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
