Everywhere you look now you see reports of people becoming diabetic due to poor eating habits, we see all types of mixed messages on how to deal with this crisis that threatens the NHS more than anything else.

Here in Trafford more so in the Sale area there is a takeaway on just about every corner! well almost. look at the situation from Eastway in Sale to the college in Timperley, their is three chinese takeaways, four takeaways that offer pizza, four chippy’s.

Do we need all of these takeaways? what message does this give to kids growing up? the smells of a chippy can draw you in like they have sent out a fishing line more so to a kid who is more than likely hungry.

Look at all the sweets and fizzy drinks on display at all the mini supermarkets everywhere you go, if you checked your local food store all you ever see is sweets, cakes, and fizzy drinks, do the big names like Co-Operative help? selling bottles of coke for £1 and tease people with a sweet tooth to buy that big packet of milky bar buttons for just £1 or the Oreo doughnuts again only £1.

What needs to happen is for government to tell councils there should be only two chinese, two chippy’s and two pizza/kebab takeaways in a 2 mile radius, big named stores should not be offering coke at £1 and bring in healthier foods and put them in someones eye line.

ultimately though the buck stops at you! as it is you who has the choice to say “no more fast food” and choose a healthier lifestyle, of course you need to keep moving, no point having a healthy eating plan and not do nothing, even if you have a walk it’s doing something, get on a bike would be your best start to a much healthier you.

Getting diabetes is no laughing matter, it is one of the worst blows to your life, but the good news is even if you are diagnosed with type two diabetes you can cure it, simply by ending the sweet stuff, the chippy’s etc, there is proof of a reversal if you choose a healthier lifestyle, but you are best not getting it in the first place.

Let’s get you fitter, more healthy and save the NHS millions which will go towards saving the service that is admired all around the world.
