With the numerous reports of possible dog poisoning incidents in Trafford we spoke with the RSPCA to get the official line.

We urge people to use to the number provided below and if you see anything suspicious remember you can also report to police via 101.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “It’s very upsetting to hear that a dog has died after eating something in Sale.
“The RSPCA would be very concerned to hear that poison may have been put out deliberately.
“We received a report on Nov 26 of suspicious meat left in the Sale area and would urge anyone with any information to get in touch by calling our 24-hour emergency line on 0300 1234 999.”
They also said you must contact your vet as soon as possible if you think your pet has been poisoned, details will be asked about where you suspect poisoning occurred and symptoms.
The signs your dog could have been poisoned vary and can include any of the following:
- Depression
- Lack of appetite
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Breathing Problems
- Bad Breath
- Twitching
- Seizures
Different substances can affect animals in different ways and some symptoms can take days to appear.
People should also be careful when putting down substances to ensure that other animals are not affected (slug pellets and antifreeze in particular) and that substances are properly disposed of, rather than dumping them on a roadside or in a park.
