The Green Mayor candidate for Greater Manchester Deyika Nzeribe has died suddenly at the age of 50, it is thought he died of a massive heart attack on Jan 1st.

Trafford Greens campaigner said: “We are all truly saddened by the loss of Deyika. though I had only known him a short time, he was a fun, thoughtful and inspiring activist.
“He would have been a fabulous green mayor who stood up for the vulnerable and marginalised our thoughts and best wishes go out to the family at this sad time.”
The elections take place on May 7 this year for Greater Manchester Mayor, other candidates are as follows:
- Labour Party – Andy Burnham
- Conservative – Sean Anstee
- Lib Dems – Jane Brophy
- English Democrats – Stephen Morris
