Transport For Greater Manchester (TFGM) sent us a statement about the road block on Birch Road in Carrington.

We have now had TFGM and Trafford Council statements, the only one missing is the one from Himor, we have also had a smaller statement from a local councillor.
Cycling is on the up in Manchester as it is nationwide, due partly to do with Team Sky and Team GB Cycling, who have won many medals and tours.
Safety has become one of the biggest and most important words in the cycling community, our roads have become more dangerous, not just because of some sloppy motorist, but also due to the surface.
Birch Road which goes down the side of Manchester United FC Aon training centre was well used by cyclists and other road users, even though it has been private land for many years, it is a cut through, saving cyclists from having to go down Carrington Lane, which is one of the most dangerous roads in the borough.
You can see the full TFGM response below, it gave no real hope to cyclists, or that Himor will change its mind, another local media service has claimed that Himor blocked the road from all users because of anti social behaviour, we can not confirm if this is true, but we can say if it is, that is a bad excuse and one cyclists could challenge.
We hope Himor will respond to our messages and will update this article when they do.
