The club had been in talks with a potential investor, but sadly those talks broke down and Manchester Phoenix lifeline was cut.

Ice hockey in the UK is a popular sport, and has many fans, it is a very good game to watch so sadly it is a bad day for Manchester’s ice hockey fans.

The club has thanked the supporters club and volunteers for helping keep the club alive, it also thanked officials from other clubs in the league that they played.

Neil Morris commented: “I am extremely saddened for the whole of the Phoenix community but this decision has become inevitable.

“I’d like our fans to remember the great things the club has achieved, and the impact we’ve made on British Ice Hockey.”

All the players will be paid what they are owed according to a club statement, the team will now be withdrawn from the league and sadly takes a bow at the bottom of the table.

Neil payed respect to the fans of the club he said:”And lastly you the fans, you have been The Faithful. I will never forget all of you. I have had some fantastic times with you. Many of you feel like family and I am sorry if I have let you down.

!This is the first time I have ever looked to the corner for the towel. I just cannot go on. I really do love you all and will miss you all. I tried my best for all of us.”
