The UK have been put on a final warning today by the European Commission because of its high pollution rates in urban areas.

Manchester was one of the sixteen places listed, which will test Trafford Council and its councillors.
Trafford has higher pollution rates than many parts of Manchester, news4trafford have always been on councillors cases about the issue, but maybe now they will act rather than just throw it under the carpet, hoping it will go away.
The Council has only a few pollution monitors, oddly two in Stretford and one in Davyhulme which suffers the most from heavy traffic from the M60, and other industry.
We need to get this sorted out as soon as we can, we see time and time again political people talking but doing nothing, collectively be it red or blue or even yellow, they all must stand together and get this sorted out once and for all.
The solution could be as simple as making buses go bio fuel or electric, ban diesel cars, vans etc at specific times or altogether from urban areas, but this would be highly controversial and without doubt if implemented would see some backlash. either way pollution in Trafford will now have to be taken seriously by the politicians, that have the key to our future and future generations fate.
