Partington councillor John Smith has decided to step down after around ten-years representing and fighting for the residents of  the Bucklow St Martins ward.

He is in the unique position of having represented the ward under both Labour and Conservative parties, it is thought he defected to the Tories after some issues with the selection procedure at the last local elections that saw James Wright installed as the new councillor, after Ian Platt had to step down for personal reasons.

The door is to shut on this mans ten-year career as a councillor for the Bucklow St Martins ward, however he is still an active member of the community in Partington and expected to keep his place on the board at the parish council.

John will step down on July 28 and wished all the members in last nights council meeting all the best for the future.
