New drone laws are to come into force from July 30th this year which means drones cannot be flown more than 400ft and has to be 1km around an airport.
If your drone weighs more than 250 grams you will need to register with the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and take an online test, this will come into force on November 30th 2019.
The new laws are designed to protect aircraft, it is thought that a drone could smash a window or cause enough damage to bring a plane down.
We think all drone flyers will be more than happy with the new laws as 400ft is very high up and many drones would never get to that height anyway.
Baroness Sugg, Aviation Minister, said: “We are seeing fast growth in the numbers of drones being used, both commercially and for fun.
“Whilst we want this industry to innovate and grow, we need to protect planes, helicopters and their passengers from the increasing numbers of drones in our skies.
“These new laws will help ensure drones are used safely and responsibly.”
