A collision between a HGV and a small car this afternoon on Manchester Road in Carrington causes traffic to back up as far as Carrington Lane and the best part of Flixton Road.

Both drivers are thought to be well with only minor injuries.
The HGV had its front left hand wheel buckled and bad damage could be seen to its side, the car though was in a bad condition, windows smashed, and the front badly damaged, and its left front wheel had been snapped off.
At the scene it was chaotic with one police man stopping traffic one way and another the other way, glass and debris everywhere making things more of a hazard more so for passing cyclists.
It is not known at this time what caused the crash.
