Frank Duerden

The wife of a man who died in a collision in Urmston has paid tribute to him.

Frank Duerden died on 27 November following a collision on Davyhulme Road, at the junction of Pleasant Drive, in Urmston on Saturday 24 November.

The 79-year-old was driving a blue Toyota Aygo when it collided with a red Ford Transit close to the junction of Davyhulme Road and Pleasant Drive.

While being treated in an ambulance, Frank fell ill and was taken to hospital. 

The Ford Transit driver sustained no injuries.


Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

His wife, Vera, said: “Frank was a very hard working man, who loved to gamble on the horses. 

“He loved swimming and football and was a lifelong Manchester United supporter. 

“It has been a shock since Frank died, especially to his son and grandson, who miss him a lot. 

“He was a lovely man and I will miss him greatly. “
