Land opposite Cross Lane Park was sold to a housing developer according to Land Registry website, the price paid for the 5.5 acres of land was £138,000.

The land is a freehold which means the developer will be more than likely building homes instead of apartments.

Although the name of the housing developer is still not known we believe due to Covid and other things beyond the control of the developer meant a big delay in getting anything of the ground.

We understand that many applications to develop are waiting in a long queue and this will have also delayed the application.

The 5.5 acres of land bought we estimate around 400 homes will be built going off other housing developments of a similar size.

Once the application gets to be seen, it would be that everyone objects and the councillors actually gets involved in stopping the plans unless the housing developer builds new infrastructure so local and new people are not impacted, it could also be refused by planning committee because its a huge green space something the council is supposed to be protecting.

In November an application for a new housing scheme and a care home by the side of the doctors on Central Road will be pushed out to the weekly planning lists and will be seen by the planning committee in early 2023.

What is assured is that more housing will go up in Partington in the coming years and it will only be a critical situation that will finally stop the planning committee from approving almost every housing development without ever thinking what all of this means to existing and even new residents.
