Teams from Housing Options Service Trafford (HOST) recently walked through Trafford overnight to look for people sleeping rough.

They found three people who were offered accommodation on the night, as well as further support to help resolve their needs.

Cllr James Wright, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Housing and Neighbourhoods, said: “HOST do a fantastic job of preventing homelessness and helping those who find themselves without a place to call home.

“These night walks are just a part of what they do to make sure everyone in our borough gets the right support as soon as possible.”

Often, HOST officers discover that homelessness has been caused by a range of issues.

Cllr Wright said: “There can be so many factors involved, whether its debt, the break-up of relationships, substance misuse, mental health issues or something else.

“Whatever the circumstances, our rough sleeper teams will help. They’ll help rough sleepers to access support and services to help them back on track.”

He added: “It’s our priority as a Council to prevent poverty, That means working together to minimise the risk of people becoming homeless, and to support those who are experiencing homelessness.”

If you are at risk of becoming homeless, or see someone sleeping rough, please call HOST on 0161 912 2230 or email HOST@Trafford.gov.uk.
