Trafford Council has vowed to hit fly tippers hard after prosecuting a taxi driver for dumping rubbish on a residential street.
The Council took Mohammed Osman to court after CCTV operatives caught him dumping wood from his car onto Empress Street in Old Trafford.
Mr Osman, aged 47, of Hamer Drive, Old Trafford, pleaded guilty to fly tipping at Manchester Magistrates Court and was fined £2,000 with £400 costs.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Environmental Services, said: “Fly tipping is a shocking crime and a blight on our landscape in Trafford – we will not stand around while people dump rubbish onto our streets. If we witness people fly tipping in Trafford we will do everything we can to take them to court and prosecute them.”
