Liz Truss has been elected as the leader of the Conservative party and the next Prime Minister of the UK, she won by a sizable majority, she got 81,326 and Sunak 60,399.
Truss will be the new PM tomorrow and after meeting the queen and will organise her cabinet during the evening.
Truss talking after her win mentioned she will deliver on a range of things including stopping energy prices going up and protecting the NHS, it will be incredibly difficult for Truss with many tough decisions to be made.
Cutting taxes will be something high on the list for the new prime minister, and will be looking to do more for those who are on benefits and get more people in work who can work.
On energy, the UK has a huge amount of gas under our feet, and in the North Sea political figures are saying we don’t need Russian gas and we have enough gas for the next 50 years, it might be that Fracking comes back on the agenda.
We should always keep with wind farms and other greener ways of giving the national grid more power this must never change however common sense now tells us that we need a mix of both if truss does go with Fracking it will be greeted with heavy opposition by campaign groups and of course the Green Party and possibly the LIb Dems.
We shall have to wait and see what she and her new chancellor will do in the coming weeks and months either way if she manages to bring energy bills down and helps businesses to survive no one could complain and she would be possibly liked by everyone, going into a general election with those feelings would mean another 4 or 5 years for Truss and goodbye to the Labour leader Starmer who many people feel is not good enough to take Labour forward.
