This year we have seen much more collisions than in recent times and the reason is thought to be because of all the housing developments that have gone up.
It seems the council does not fully understand what is going on, it does not understand that almost every apartment and house will come with one or two cars.
A car collision near Partington today was just another one out of many that has happened recently in Trafford, more cars are also causing a bigger pollution issue something Trafford Labour are supposed to be doing something about.
We went down to have a look at the progress of the huge housing development in Partington on Lock Lane and was shocked at the speed the houses and apartments were going up, a Countryside worker told us even he is concerned about traffic levels, the man who told us he did not want to be named said “Without infrastructure people will have no schools for the kids, the shops will find it hard to stock up because of the roads being jammed.” he agreed with us that even his company have done nothing to help.
We read today that yet another housing development is proposed to go up in Old Trafford with over 300 flats! the huge housing developments in Stretford, Sale and of course the two in Broadheath not to mention elsewhere in the borough will mean road space will decrease and more collisions will result.
Drivers are also going much faster than normal, overtaking cyclists with next to no room and cutting them up is on the increase, of course its the cyclists who will have to pay for all this in the end since enforcement is almost non existent, we suggest all cyclists wear a go pro or some other video unit on every journey.
It is without any doubts the council must stop these housing developments until the borough can get added infrastructure to be able to cope, at this time this borough is in serious trouble, all these councillors can talk about the Carrington Relief Road all they like, they know though that it won’t make a jot of difference.
We fully believe the Carrington Relief Road will not be approved due to the huge amount of objections to it, whilst we need roads it should not be ripping up the green belt something we need to be protecting, other solutions are needed.
