Police are continuing to rid lethal weapons from our streets as they are taking action on information received from the public.
On 22 September officers from the Serious Organised Crime Firearms Investigation Team found two guns after they identified a stolen Citreon car parked in the Stretford area.
The weapons have been forensically recovered and will be assessed to see if they are linked to any previous incidents involving guns.
So far in 2022, police have recovered 53 guns and another 150 that were handed in during a three-week campaign back in May.
Police actions on organised crime are seeing shootings go in a downwards direction with discharges decreasing by 25% last year, and the number continues to fall.
The work relies on knowledge that has been received from communities and anyone with concerns or information should pass it on to us in confidence knowing that police will take action on any viable leads.
