The original date the memorial was to happen was postponed due to the death of the Queen fortunately a new date has been arranged for the event to take place which will be on 17 October 2022 at 11am.
At the memorial members of the Australian Air Force will be present along with our own Royal Air Force, the 318 training corps and the Royal British Legion.
On the night of 3rd August 1943 an Australian Wellington Bomber was trying to land at any air field when it had technical issues with the engines and crashed landed in an allotment which is now Walton Park

The pilot Flight sergeant Fredrick James Matthews and the bomb aimer Flight Sergeant Edward Claude Thompson known as ‘Snow’ Were both killed in the crash and both are buried in a military section at Blacon Cemetery in Chester.
This war memorial also must also be for all the people of Walton Road at that time for the bravery to help the flight crew survive, despite all the fire and fumes from aviation fuel they did everything they could to help.
Fingers crossed the weather will be good! for this is going to be one event not to be missed by young or old and one that gives Walton Park something special that will last a life time and to be treasured by all.
