Tomorrow morning (9 October 2022) we will see the Manchester Half Marathon taking place that will go through Trafford which means road closures.
The runners will head down Chapel Road and go down Broad Road in Sale
From Harboro Road heading north up to Chapel Road in Sale the north bound route will be closed from 7.30am and is scheduled to reopen at 2.30pm, going past Chapel Road all the way to Stretford will be closed from 7.30am until 2.30pm north bound and 2.30pm until 3.30pm south bound.
It is unclear at this time why over one mile of the A56 was closed down when the runners were turning right down Chapel Road.
You can view the map and the full road closure times and more here:
We feel the route will create some issues with residents due to the weird times some roads will close, some parcels will also be delayed.
The runners will finish at the Emirates Lancashire Cricket Club.
For runners this is a great challenge to test how you would cope in a full marathon, it gives seasoned runners a goal to get faster and for many who will be running for charity.
We give special praise for the blind runners and helpers who do an amazing job to keep them safe whilst enjoying the occasion.
Training is over now and the event is is just around the corner, if your preparation is good, you have eaten right and hydrated, you have bought a good pair of trainers and socks, the right kit and most important go to the toilet before you go out of the house and before the event starts you will do a great time.
Trainers are important and the technology increases all of the time, with huge midsoles that gives you impact protection and a little help pushing you forward with each stride you take.

We saw some runners in last years full marathon in the wrong trainers, although good for running trail trainers are not for marathon racing, we saw a few people in racer trainers, these are good but not for a marathon and anything with a shallow foam midsole.
Socks are of great importance and many runners will already know what works for them, however those taking part for the first time will not, do not ever run in brand new trainers fresh out of the box!
Good luck to all runners.
