Trafford Planning Committee last night approved a new housing development that will be built on the grounds of a former social club in Timperley.
The former Taveners Social Club where Trafford Lib Dems had its HQ will now be demolished making way for seven new properties built by Nexus Planning.
Trees at the front will be retained although two trees on the western side of the development will be taken down.
Residents objected to the proposals for a variety of reasons from siting and issues with the congestion on Park Road.
Officers at the Planning Committee had already given it a stamp of approval and residents objections including the individual who spoke for all of three minutes on behalf of all residents interested mattered little.
Access issues seemed to have been resolved and the developer in notes read said they would expand the site so no one can object to privacy issues.
Park Road is a problem road with daily congestion, Councillors believe the amount of cars coming from the development will not make any difference, residents believe it will cause further issues.
Councillor Bunting and others stated it won’t make much of a difference, in fact it will be better as when it was a social club you had cars coming and going and the slamming of doors, and all the taxis, with the development you would not get any of that.
More cars on the road is not the right thing for Trafford, these councillors are responsible for the chaos that will soon hit Partington, Old Trafford, Stretford and even in Sale and Broadheath, whilst we do need more houses and flats councillors cannot completely screw up Trafford and sadly they are doing so.
We agree completely with one councillor saying simply “We need to be thinking of accessibility before we agree to say yes to all these housing developments” they need to also think about the road space, the pollution, shops, school places.
Although this development won’t cause too much of an issue with everything mentioned we just wanted to advice the Planning Committee of the chaotic scenes that ‘Will’ happen soon in other places more so in Partington and fingers will be pointing to them when people look to see who is to blame.
