Huge fire at a scrap yard in Altrincham sends plumes of toxic smoke in the air

Police closed off Parts of Craven Road in Broadheath this morning due to a huge fire at J Davidson Scrap yard, smoke was seen billowing out and the air turned toxic.

Residents were advised to close windows and doors until the fire was out.

We believe no one was hurt in this incident and an investigation is underway as to what happened.

Altrincham Retail Park which is next to J Davidson was not impacted by the fire or smoke, however management may be now looking at this with some seriousness as the fire could have spread to the retail park which would have been a much bigger situation.

The plumes of smoke could be seen for miles as the wind blew it all towards the North West direction, in the distance also lots of smog could be seen coming from Carrington.

Craven road has since reopened.
