At around 7.30am on 28 October police closed off parts of Carrington Spur and Bankey Lane in Sale due to an incident.
A resident saw the incident and noticed many police vehicles on the scene and GMFRS (Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service)
From the reports we have to hand from eyewitnesses the incident seemed to be on a bridge over the River Mersey.
On the North West Motorway Twitter account it said “Due to a police incident we have closed J8 onto the Carrington Spur to all traffic, Please find another route, also Banky Lane from A6144 is also closed” two hours later all roads were reopened.
Banky Lane is a cut through to the River Mersey in which you end up at a bridge which it seemed where the incident was.
We have since contacted the police for more information.
