Following the success of last year, Trafford Centre has announced it is to host a National Tapathon in support of BBC Children in Need. 200 students between the ages of five and 70 years old from the Miss Joanne Farnell School of Dancing, will take part in a nation-wide dancing event [located in The Orient] to attempt to break the world record for largest tap dance whilst ultimately raising money for BBC Children in Need.
On Friday 18th November at 6pm and Sunday 20th November at 1pm dance schools from around the nation will be performing. Students from different locations around the nation, at the same time [as stated above], will attempt to break the world record for the world’s largest tap dance, as they all engage in the same routine to Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and all to raise money for an incredible charity. This follows the success of last year’s Tapathon event which raised over £28,000 for charity.
Joanne Farnell, Dance School, and Bridgewater Studios Principal said: “We’re absolutely delighted to take part in such a wonderful dancing activity for such a worthwhile cause. We’re excited to support BBC Children in Need in this nation-wide Tapathon event with dance schools around the country, and we hope to beat the world record whilst raising as much money as possible – I am incredibly proud of my students who have been rehearsing since September, please come along and show your support at Trafford Centre.”
Zoe Inman, Centre Director at Trafford Centre, said: “We are honoured to offer space at Trafford Centre in support of BBC Children in Need, for the Miss Joanne Farnell School of Dancing to complete this national Tapathon fundraising event. The main stage in The Orient is a fantastic space, allowing the school to take part whilst performing to the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping and leisure destination. On behalf of the centre, we wish all dance schools across the nation the very best of luck.”
