It is expected that Trafford Planning will grant the application for 15 new warehouse and general industry units near Carrington Power Station on Manchester Road in Carrington.

In July this year this application was cancelled out due to insufficient information that Trafford Planning needed to see, the firm responsible for the development have now come back with an application that Trafford might find much better.

However having so many warehouses and general industry units in three places might be a little too much for the planning committee.

The biggest issue will be the amount of HGV’s that will clog up Manchester Road, one councillor in the first application mentioned that over 70 HGV’s will be coming and going from the site per hour, this will mean extra congestion that will mostly hit Partington residents

The application rightly has done a transport assessment, it mentions the Relief Road as some kind of magic wand and that traffic would suddenly vanish! or that’s how we took it! the relief road if its ever built will do nothing to ease congestion on Manchester Road.

Looking further into the transport plan the applicant believes that due to Manchester Road being wide and has a 40 Mph speed limit a confident cyclist will be alright! we expect councillors who cycle will not be happy with that statement from the appicant.

Having so many units might seem like a good plan for creating jobs, we wonder if anyone will be able to get into work on time! the applicant talks about the buses! 255, 247 and 280 all will be affected by having so many huge lorries on the road, mix it in with all the roadworks you can imagine the chaos.

We suggest to the applicant to first look at the situation on a daily basis heading in and out of Partington, with an increase in population has come with it many new cars on the roads, more courier vans, and its going to get worse! has the applicant understood that with Heath Farm Lane housing development half done, and the huge housing development on land off Lock Lane this will cause serious congestion in the area?

With over 70 HGV’s an hour on Manchester Road how would people cope? the answer to the applicant is “They won’t” this is a nightmare unfolding before our very eyes, once approved there is no going back…it would be too late.

We need the councillors to refuse this application until the transport infrastructure has been properly changed and not fob Partington people off with a two lane road that will cut through the heart of the green belt and too close to a peat bog, they need assurances that a proper road network will be built.

Even if the two lane Relief Road does get the go ahead it will be almost 2030 before its built!

Trafford Labour have gone housing development crazy without ever thinking about what it would mean to the fed up people that will be hit the most in Partington, even the blinded Partington councillors thumbed up all the housing developments going against what the residents wanted, now they may have to put up with 70 plus HGV’s an hour blocking the road.
