Trafford MV’s day started well the a Club Presidents Charity Lunch which raised over £500 for two nominated charities on the day.

The good spirit within the club was taken onto the field of play as a good crown welcomed visitors Fleetwood onto the pitch. The goodwill was not double sided however as with only a couple of minutes on the clock the red card came out of the ref’s pocket for a dangerous tip tackle of MV full back Rob Dutton who was forced to leave the pitch. MV kicked the resulting penaly through Aaron Booth for a 3-0 lead.

Fleetwood now had an uphill task playing almost a full game with a man short. This was made evident as MV pressed deep into the defending half for Micah Dyos to eventually force his way over to the left of the posts for Booth to convert and extend the lead to 10-0.

Outside centre Jono Mitchell added further to Fleetwoods woes as he was on the end of a powerful MV backline attack again down the left side of the field to score and give Booth the conversion again 17-0.

MV relaxed a little and allowed Fleetwood to gain a foothold as they ploughed up the middle of the pitch maintaining possession and forcing a try to the right of the posts, a simple conversion attempt was missed 17-5 to MV.

With the half time break approaching MV lost Connor Monaghan following a bang to the head and it was his replacement Nathan Bailey who added the next score for MV as he used his size and powere to drive over to the wide right of the posts asking jst a bit too much from Booth for the conversion attempt 22-5 at the interval.

Trafford were playing well with Andy Quigley leading the way as he once again took on the captains mantle. It was good to see Trafford playing with confidence and it is now hoped the players can continue to forge working combinations to improve their league position going into Christmas time.

MV launched a good attack, again down the left flank and youngster Joe Wells did well to hold the defense tight to the touchline before releasing the ball and putting Micah Dyos over for his second try of the game, to continue his recent scoring run, Aaron Booth again converted for a comfortable 29-5 lead.

With the game seemingly sown up Trafford had a definite lapse in concentration in the last 5 minutes as Fleetwood collected 2 late tries, one of which was converted, closing the game off at 29-17 for Trafford MV.

Trafford MV may eventually be starting to see the benefits of good training numbers and also a reviatlised recruitment campaign that is seeing new players coming into the fold nad adding to MV’s strength in depth. Coach Brian Collier can at last go home after the games in a less frustrated manner and look forward to pushing the team on to improved results.

Trafford MV’s player of the match by far was Andy Quigley, never taking a backward step and putting in tackle after tackle.

This win saw TMV leap up the table into 3rd position which is more reflective of the Clubs own perception of where they should be – the battle now is to make in roads into the points difference separating them from Heaton Moor and Eccles respectively. Thos coming week MV have the first opportunity to do this as they travel to face bottom placed Orrell.
