Police closed down Ashley Road in Hale this morning due to an Arriva bus that caught fire.

The fire started at around 8.30am and from video seen shows how bad the fire was which completely gutted out the bus, it is currently unknown how the fire started.

Despite the intensity of the fire we are glad to say no one was injured.

Police have now reopened the road and are awaiting removal of the badly burnt out bus which is expected to be examined by experts to find the cause of the fire.

Bus fires are very rare and when one does set on fire it’s normally an electrical fault to blame although we cannot say what happened in this fire.

GMFRS (Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue) have been contacted and will update this article when they get back to us.
