Firefighters tackle blaze at Woodhouse Lane Tip in Altrincham

Fire fighters raced to the scene of a blaze at the Woodhouse Lane recycling tip in Altrincham today at around 4.30pm.

Staff from the tip was seen stopping people from going to the tip whilst fire fighters tackled the blaze although cyclists were able to use the path behind the tip.

Our photographer got to the scene and saw one of the huge containers well on fire with lots of toxic smoke coming from it.

The smell from the fire could be smelt from Manor Avenue in Sale.

An investigation as to how this fire happened will be underway, it is believed no one was injured in the fire.
