A British Airways Airbus A320 was on route to London Heathrow from Glasgow Airport when it encountered problems over the Blackburn area of Lancashire just before midday today 27 Jan 2023.
The flight crew then dialled in the emergency squawk number 7700 and performed several loops burning off fuel for a safe landing at Manchester Airport.
It is not clear at this time why the emergency was called although on social media users were saying that fumes was the cause, whilst live on YouTube the host of Macc Aviation confirmed the flight crew was seen wearing oxygen masks.
Once the aircraft landed it stopped at a safe position whilst the flight crew did checks and then made its way to the gate.
We will bring you further updates when more is known.
