Mobile firms EE and Three have submitted a new application for a 25 metre (82ft) 5G mast to be built on the grounds of Trafford General Hospital.
This one replaces a 20 metre 5G mast that was refused by the council last year for siting and appearance, the council saying that the network had more places to look at to build the mast in the area.
The new mast will be even worse for residents living on Minister Drive and likely further on as its 5 metres taller, the only difference is the engineers have decided to move forward the mast to around 40 metres or so.
If built the 82ft mast will have on it 6 antennas (5G) and 4 microwave dishes measuring 600mm and other apparatus fixed below the antennas and dishes, the equipment cabinets at ground level, all inside a 2.4m high compound.
It is not clear from the application what other apparatus will be fixed below the antennas and dishes, a Swan tower is gigantic and can hold many more antennas, without any question if this mast is approved they will add way more antennas to it.
Already residents are adding objections and it is also hoped people at the hospital will do also since this type of equipment will cause health issues to patients, and interference to anything electronic in the hospital, it is also claimed that 5G could cause issues with radar and aircraft altimeters which you can read here: http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/SafetyNotice2021017V2.pdf
