In the past we are fully aware lots of funding has been given to Partington given by industry and winning bids.
Much of the funding was given to projects in the area, including a trim trail, football/basketball pitch, skate park, nature trails and other things that was given to the community.
Transparency though was not a thing back in the day, no information on what projects cost and how much was left over from money given is a grey area we found concerning.
With this new money the £18.2m which is a very large amount for one area we expect full transparency on costing and what was left over after all the projects have been completed which should be millions!
A refurbishment of the Sports Centre will expect to be the most costly and depending what is going to happen to the sports centre should cost no more than £2 or £3m at the most.
Other things will be included such as a path around Cross Lane Park, we think an upgraded skate park, refurbishment of the changing rooms at Cross Lane Park and other sporting things that will cost no more than £5m so if this ball park figure is correct then what about the rest of the £18.2m?
Any extra money should be spent on Partington! for things residents want! and it would be up to the council and local councillors to ask the questions.
In the past transparency was obviously not available, we asked the questions and got nothing from anyone other than one group who got the most money from firms passing the buck! we are not saying anything bad has happened however it was concerning, however all that can be done now is hope the people of Partington make sure they get the transparency up front because they deserve that.
