In honour of Random Acts of Kindness Day, local homebuilder Miller Homes has set out to spread compassion by donating supplies to a number of charities and community kitchens including Stretford Foodbank

Every year, Miller Homes partakes in Random Acts of Kindness Day in aid of supporting local communities surrounding its developments. This year, the builder’s focus was on foodbanks.

Miller Homes stepped in to help support the vital work that takes place at Stretford Foodbank, stocking their cupboards full of basic ingredients alongside cleaning supplies for the daily running of the kitchen. Items donated included multiple flavours of cupa soups, pasta and sauces, tinned tuna, microwaved rice, pot noodles, and cartons of juice.

The charity also provides emergency food parcels for those in need. The group provides at least three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.

Stretford Foodbank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. In 2022, the group successfully provided over 2,800 food hampers to the community of Stretford.

With the rising cost of living, there has been a significant increase in the use of food banks for many people across the UK, so helping fill local foodbanks has now, unfortunately become a priority.

Louise Kershaw, Manager at Stretford foodbank commented: “We are so grateful to Miller Homes for their kind donation, and on Random Acts of Kindness day no less – how fitting! The supplies will really benefit the North Trafford community as well as the Greater Manchester Community.”

Clare Noakes, Miller Homes’ Sales Director for the North West, added: “This day is always a great opportunity for us at Miller Homes to use our resources for the greater good and to support the community. Foodbank donations are always something we like to get involved with as we know how so many people are struggling especially at this time of year.”

Miller Homes’ new development in the Stretford area, Novus consists of 1 to-4-bedroom homes and apartments, all of which are sustainably built and feature spaces for home working and flexible living. It was found in 2022 that new homes such as these can save up to £2.6k on energy bills as opposed to older builds, according to the NHBC.

The development sales centre on site is now open to visit on Talbot Road, Stretford, M32 0YA and those interested can register their interest online.
