A new multi-use Astroturf playing pitch with extended parking has been proposed for Crossford Bridge in Sale.

The multi sports Astroturf pitch will be built on land at the side of Sale Harriers track where it’s currently a closed off football pitch, it will come with several lighting poles and car parking.

Cars will be able to use an upgraded car park near the pavilion and more spaces will be available in the Athletic stadium car park which will also be upgraded, this will also include a cycle lock up.

Some residents have complained that despite the increased amount of car parking that this will not be enough and once full people will park up on local roads which will be a big problem, more cars going into the car park will also cause residents problems.

Having a multi use astro turf pitch though would be a good thing for the area, it could also be used for the athletics club and other sports clubs in the area for training purposes.

Some residents have concerns about the flood lighting, the pitch will be at the side of the athletic club well out of the way of residential property and will be shielded by trees and Sale Harriers club building.

Trafford is in need of more of this type of pitch and whilst we also have concerns over the parking we think this will be a valuable bit of sporting infrastructure for local people.

You can look at the entire application which also includes habitat issues for wildlife by using application number 110005 in Trafford Planning Search.
