Lots of runners turned out this morning (5 March 2023) for the annual Trafford 10k running event 2023 which starts from Chapel Lane in Partington.
In cooler conditions the race got under way on time (9.30am) this time with no circles around all the potholes!
The course goes through the country lanes in Dunham Massey before returning to Partington, it is a flat course and often gets some fast times and today’s winner Richard Allen from Leeds City Athletic Club managed a time of 29:03 and Paul Pollock from Kent Athletic Club coming second with a time of 29:07 and in third place was Daniel Studley with a time of 29.16.
The first female to finish was Samantha Harrison from Charmwood AC with a time of 30:55 which gave her a 65th place overall.
Trafford Athletic Club runner James Knockton found himself just outside the top 10 in 11th place with a time of 29:33 whilst Sale Harriers runner Nicholas Barry got a time of 30:13 in 167th place.
It is great this event is run from and finishes in Partington and with the £18.2m we cannot think why a proper running track cannot be built with the huge amount that will be left over after the refurbishments and enhancements are done.
Congratulations to the winners and for all the newbies who ran in the race this year and glad finally Trafford after many complaints has decided to resurface Chapel Lane helping save many ankles!
