During a live meeting on Trafford Council’s live on YouTube a few councillors talked about the huge rise in Cannabis use in the borough.
Councillor Axeford mentioned that the council looked at cannabis use as she is aware and its openly smoked in many places, she felt it is impacting users and non users in the borough, Tom Ross the council leader said: “I agree with you about the smell of people using cannabis I think its unpleasant and it does have an impact on people.”
Cannabis is still a Class B drug although police have to give a slap on the hand for a first time offence if someone is caught and further action will be taken by police for a second offence, if someone is caught smoking in a vehicle will be in trouble.
Clearly Cannabis use is now out of control and for people that do not use this drug it smells disgusting and is very strong, the biggest reason for the epidemic is because of UK law.
Another Councillor said: “You cant walk anywhere in Trafford these days without smelling cannabis, and I again I wonder what else can we do about it particularly about the normalisation of smoking cannabis.”
Trafford leader said “I share your view on the pervasive smell from people smoking cannabis in the area and its much more common than 10 years ago and again something I dislike the smell of and will factor in to the report.”
