The Sunday Times Best Places to Live in 2023 guide has now been going for over a decade and this year it chose three areas of Greater Manchester and one of them is Sale.
Some people on social media found it a bit of a shocker since Altrincham has always been chosen but not this year!
Sale gets the award and rightly so as the huge area has the best transport links, some of the best parks, Stanley Square Shopping Centre, if you are into sports the area has lots to offer from football to Tennis, the area has Trafford MV who are a well supported team they also do lots of community work.
On the sporting theme at Crossford Bridge is where Sale Harriers Manchester has its home and Sale United FC, soon Crossford Bridge could have a brand new artificial all sports astro pitch and new car parking facilities depending on if the application is approved.
The area also has lots of history to it, running right through the heart of Sale is The Roman Road or as its known now as Washway Road, Crossford Bridge which dates back to 1367 was demolished by the then government in 1745 that and other bridges in the area, to slow the on coming Jocobites, it was them though that managed to get Crossford Bridge repaired one they reached Manchester.
Sale also had the opportunity to have a new rugby stadium and upgraded sports facilities at Crossford Bridge however local people got very angry and decided to protest and objected to the proposals since it would have taken all the green spaces something Trafford needs desperately to protect.
The wards of Sale are Ashton on Mersey, Brooklands, Sale Moor, Sale Central, and Priory, Sale has some of the best parks in Trafford and are widely used by the community.
Sale has a shopping area where you will find all the shops you need, on School Road you will find big high street names like Boots, EE, Vodafone and Greggs to name but a few, the shopping area has supermarkets like Sainsbury’s and Tesco and many shops in Stanley Square where you can chill out after doing all your shopping for a cup of tea or coffee and have a bite to eat in many of the establishments present.
In Stanley Square you can also find WH Smiths, O2, Holland and Barratt and Wilko, the square also has an indoors space where you can find Specsavers and Nationwide bank along with discount store Quality Save.
Shops and takeaways are dotted around everywhere in Sale so you will always have somewhere to eat if you are on the move.
Transport links are second to none in Sale, the area has everything from buses, taxis and Metrolink, you can get to any destination from Sale in super quick time.
The Bridgewater Canal goes through Sale heading towards Altrincham and The River Mersey goes to the side of Ashton on Mersey heading towards Flixton bridge which has seen its fair share of flooding.
Sale is a desirable location and worthy of being one of three best places in Greater Manchester to live in.
