Paul O’Grady who will be remembered for his roll as drag queen Lily Savage has passed away aged 67.

O’Grady rose to fame playing drag queen Lily Savage in the 1990’s he then went on to present The Big Breakfast, Blankety Blank and Lily Live.

He starred in BBC’s sitcom Eyes Down and a couple of travel shows along the way he then presented his own show called ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’ which was aired during the afternoon, however some issues behind the scenes meant the show was cancelled by ITV and found itself on Channel 4 rebranded ‘The New Paul O’Grady Show’ which ran to 2009.

O’Grady then found himself presenting a late night live show for a year, Paul also had a great career in radio although had issues with BBC!

He was an animal lover and became an ambassador for Battersea Dogs and cats Home and won an RSPCA animal hero award and was a big part of other animal projects.

O’Grady’s health was not great having had a couple of heart attacks which was put down to his addiction to cigarettes.

He sadly died ‘unexpectedly and peacefully’ aged 67.
