Type 2 diabetes is a long time thing, it will creep up on you after many years of abusing your body, even those that do not gain weight can also become diabetic.

Many of us are addicted to sugar due to the popularity of things our tongue and mind craves for- the pleasure centre of the brain wants more and more, and dare you defy those cravings! just like any addiction you will suffer if you do not get that fix!

The information is out there however not the sort I am going to share with you today, many people believe brown bread is good for you, pasta and rice are incredibly good for you and may even have that as part of a diet.

What they don’t know is that these foods are bad for you if you have type 2 diabetes, carbohydrates like the above foods end up as sugar in the body once processed, if that same person eats lots of this it will spike the sugar levels in your blood.

Insulin is then called upon from the pancreas to lower the levels, however if this continues for decades it will lead to insulin resistance and then you have a serious problem on your hands.

Once the insulin cannot cope anymore the sugar levels go so high it ends up in blood cells and so health issues are created, this is not laughing matter, people have continued onwards thinking nothing has happened! next they know they are in hospital for an amputation! even worse maybe a stroke or heart attacks that could kill you.

These warnings will have already been mentioned by your GP, time to wake up!

So! what can someone do? eat sensibly would be the first step, get your weight down is the number one goal to reversing diabetes however its not that simple, you will need to continue understanding that you should completely limit the sugar intake for ever!

This does not mean you cannot have a treat once in a while, we would say it’s very important to do so, eating more protein is essential and lots of fibre.

You could choose a product that claims to solve all your problems, however despite the claims it’s not as simple as that, the quick fix could be impressive, type 2 diabetes is not a quick fix!

If you drink the booze this also must be reduced since drink contains a mass amount of hidden sugar more so these vodka pops.

Sadly people have died prematurely because they thought they was alright even after getting the diagnosis.

Going to diet clubs is great however some of them do not mention what happens to carbs in the body, and how many people who go to a diet club have type 2 diabetes? these are the questions you need to be asking, if the organiser has no real understanding then its no use to you.

The GP will have all the information you need although sadly some will not mention about insulin resistance which is a shame and actually putting the patient at risk, you must ask about this!

If you are obese then you might think its a bit late for you or some other negative mind chatter, you are wrong! it is the right time to get started on the path to not only looking better but feeling better, reversing type 2 diabetes if you have this along the way.

Always talk to your GP about getting yourself started with eating, and getting exercise, if you can walk then get yourself a fit bit or some other watch with a walk counter on it, maybe your phone has one or you could get an app.

Walking has been proven to be the best form of exercise, join a walking group in your area! no one can be feeling negative, it just takes a plan of action no matter what weight you are at and it starts with your GP (If you can get to see one)

Good luck on your journey to a healthier you!
